sem break is here.
i'm so glad and relieved.
i've been reading lately.
it's been too long since i've read a book without feeling guilty about it.
i've also moved away from fiction this time.
quite a refreshing change, i must say.
maybe i've grown to only appreciate things that are practical/relevant to my life.
i realised that reading fiction in the past never seemed to ... satisfy me.
sure, some books were great, but i still felt this little gap that wasn't filled.
i guess that's why some people become writers -- to write books that they want to read but have yet to be written.
there's so much to talk about, really.
this past semester has been one hell of a journey.
i've felt more emotions in 5 months than i did over the past 3 to 4 years.
intense anger and hurt and sorrow and exhaustion.
but the last few weeks of school also gave me hope and joy.
it was a reminder that i sorely needed;
while humans can be incredibly scheming and despicable,
there are also bright souls who are brimming with love and happiness.
...
i'm still rearranging my priorities.
still trying to feel my way out of this cavern that i put myself in.
the other day shannen asked what my top priority was.
admittedly, i was stumped because i haven't thought much about what my priorities ARE rather than what they are NOT.
i guess my #1 priority now is to be kind to myself and to others around me.
i'm not sure if there's a way to be smart about being kind, but i guess i'll find out.
being kind...
you know how there's this quote floating about the internet?
the one that goes "be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle".
it didn't resonate deeply with me until this semester.
of course i understood and agreed with it, but i never fully connected with the quote in the past.
i was selfish and never thought about how there are others who are also forced to put away their problems and get on with everyday responsibilities.
so i'll try to be kind.
i miss you and there's much i want to talk about with you.
in due time, i suppose.
i hope the holidays treat you well. (i'm sure it will)
